A forza di impazzire ci sono riuscito!
Ho scaricato il DVD1 Debia Testing e si è installata senza intoppi, a parte che ho dovuto dargli questo comando all'installer:

altrimenti non mi riconosceva il lettore CD, si è installata senza intoppi strani, ha riconosciuto la scheda rete, quella video, il WiFi, ecc.., insomma, è sul laptop e gira!!!
Ora alcune cose che non capisco troppo, forse è normale, ma preferisco essere sicuro:
La CPU è un centrino duo, ho installato il kernel 2.6.16-2-686-smp e mi riconosce la seconda CPU, ma apparentemente la frequenza non varia, resta al massimo, non che mi scombussoli molto, forse il sistema non lo riconosce completamente..la scheda video è stata riconosciuta, non ho ancora smanettato, ma sembra andare cprrettamente, l'audio mi fa lo scherzo identico a prima, riconosce la scheda ma non emette suoni, investigo un pò e se avete suggerimenti non esitate  ..

| Per la frequenza, prova a vedere se hai installato/configurato/avviato powersaved o cpufreqd o simili (sono su suse e lei utilizza powersaved). |

Ok, installato powersaved e la CPU si è messa a regolare la frequenza, grazie mille.

| per i suoni, hai controllato tutti i volumi di alsa? La scheda è selezionata? Magari prova con un dpkg-reconfigure alsa-base |

Chi si rivede, ciao Trunks, capiti a pennello:
ho provato con alsamixer e #alsaconf, alsaconf va a buon fine (cioè nessun errore o messaggi "warning", mi dice che è configurata ma no lo credo perchè continua muta, avviando alsamixer mi appare il mixer sulla console, ma il volume mi è impossibile muoverlo, allego un immagine:

ho cercato di muovere il primo cursore in tutte le maniere che mi venivano in mente, ma senza successo, quindi deduco che l'uscita non è attiva..
Ho scaricato dal sito realtek il driver ed ho seguito le istruzioni allegate passo passo, il driver si è installato, poi ho installato alsa-lib-1.0.9 ed anche li senza errori, infine ho provato ad installare alsa-utils-1.0.9a, configure sembra che vada:

forse mi manca ancora una libreria, ma non so quale
Tutto questo è contenuto nel tarball dell'installer dei drivers (realtek-linux-audiopack-4.04c.tar.bz2), ho fatto questo tentativo per vedere se ma dava accesso al volume, ma come sempre nada  ...
Vedo inoltre nella lista che mi riconosce la scheda WiFi, ma non riesco ad attivarla

Oltre questo (che già non è poco..) noto che mi ha messo l'HD come "hdaX", allora che ho un controller S-ATA, quindi la teoria direbbe che è "sdaX". |
